Galveston Daily News' Sarah Sullivan Praises The Dawn's New Colors
Sarah says in her article
"A new Dawn shows the power of color" :
"
Driving down the Seawall, as I so often do, I found inspiration, both for myself and for Galveston Island. This time, it wasn’t in nature and it wasn’t a particular character who caught my attention.
My eyes were so used to seeing what they knew: Row after row of white condominiums, followed by more little condominiums, followed by more … you guessed I t… condominiums.
Out of the fog of redundance, which my memory had produced after driving by day after day, sprang a rainbow of airy color. The Dawn Condominiums got a face lift consisting of bright yellow, peach and blue. It was as if I’d seen an old friend, who, after years of eating poorly, decided to get healthy. The condos were a crisp beautiful white before — don’t get me wrong. But the Caribbean style color combination and breezy feel they now bring to our Seawall cannot be matched.
There is a Caribbean island named Curacao that comes to mind when I see the new Dawn. After reading about it in a magazine, I checked out the Web site. What attracted me to want to read more and dream about someday going there was the color. Row after row of beautiful buildings, shops, and architecture beg to be visited and almost look like an iced cookie, too delectable to eat. It would be wonderful if Galveston had that same pull one day.
Bravo, Dawn Condominiums. In Ike’s aftermath, you took this opportunity as you should and not only made yourself absolutely delightful, but raised the bar for the rest of us to do the same in our neck of the woods. While I don’t make it a habit to promote here or there, I applaud you."
Thank you Sarah for the compliment!
